...nie jest tajemnicą, że puszczańskie samorządy "zawsze" były zwolennikami aktywnej ochrony środowiska naturalnego puszczy i o takie działania apelowały. Samorządowcy wskazywali na konieczność realizacji kolejnych inwestycji w ochronie środowiska w regionie.

The purpose of the conference will be to evaluate scientific merit and justification of sanitary logging in protected forest areas and develop best possible recommendations for protection of bark beetle-affected Białowieża Forest. Thus, the topics related to other otherwise important issues, such as social context of controversies surrounding ways of protection of the forest will not be covered. The conference will gather internationally recognized researchers having expertise directly related to invertebrate outbreaks and/or forest ecology. In all presentations and discussion only arguments traceable to peer reviewed scientific articles will be allowed.

The conference will be summarised in the form of a “white paper”. The first draft, based on the minutes will be written by Prof. M. Konarzewski and Prof. R. Zabielski, and then subject to change and final approval by the active participants of the conference.
Oxford-style debate rules
Oxford-style debate follows a formal structure that begins with audience members casting a pre-debate vote on the motion that is either for, against or undecided. Each Panelist presents a seven-minute opening statement, after which the moderator takes questions from the audience with inter-panel challenges. Finally, each Panelist delivers a two-minute closing argument, and the audience delivers their second (and final) vote for comparison against the first. Panelists are allowed to use PowerPoint presentations. Audience with the right to take a part in the discussion: Invited Speaker and Participant (printed on conference badge), only after Marshall’s approval. Observer and Organizer status gives no right to vote nor to take a part in the debate.
